The Navitar projection lenses are among the finest produced, being exceptionally well corrected for flatness of field and for color rendition. In optical performance, they are the equal of most camera lenses. They are the choice lens of many conference rooms and lecture halls.
This particular lens is a Zoom version, variable between 70mm and 125mm. A typical "normal" 35mm slide projection lens will have a focal length between 80 and 100mm, so this lens will allow the projectionist to optimize the image for typical projection distances. The zoom ring may be clamped in place with a small knurled screw. Paired zoom objectives are of great importance when using paired projectors with lap dissolve units to achieve perfect registration from one projector to the other.
The lens f-ratio remains fixed during zooming at f 3.5 ~ images also remain perfectly sharp during zooming. The zoom lenses do not suffer from pincushion or barrel distortion. Front lens is 55mm in diameter, and overall length of the objective is 165mm. Outside diameter of barrel at its widest is 62mm.
The zoom lens is in perfect optical and physical condition. Lens listed for $450 in the mid-1990s.
